LeanTrack Description
LeanTrack is a collection
of Lean Tools that simplify the tracking of key lean
metrics through visually color coded graphic charts
and Box Score Cards for Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly,
and Yearly comparisons of Lean Performance Indicators
(LPI), On-Time Delivery, and various other metrics.
A major objective of a business can be stated as securing
profits both in the present and the future. The manner
in which a business accomplishes this is to provide
customer satisfaction, furnish reliable products and
services at a reasonable price and cost, and quality
and features consistent with or exceeding the customer's
expectations. Today's accounting systems are inadequate
to provide information required to meet and support
these objectives.
Traditional accounting methods are not acceptable
when developing and implementing a lean manufacturing
enterprise. (In fact, they may be unacceptable for
any manufacturing environment.) When implementing
lean principles the entire landscape of the business
enterprise changes. In order to support lean concepts,
accounting procedures must change. The information
needs for the lean environment are completely different
than for traditional manufacturing. In a lean operation,
physical attributes become increasingly more important
and the information supporting the operation becomes
directly associated with the physical actions of the
operation.
With the operational control of traditional accounting
gone, the manufacturing shop still needs measures
in order to maintain operational excellence and understand
where steps must be taken to sustain flow, delivery,
quality, and a robust factory - or enable customer
satisfaction. The measurements used are simple, straightforward,
and easily understood by all participants in the operation.
